This method is suitable for all types of buildings and is the more preferred method, as a simple support structure is created underneath the foundations enabling stability. This involves the removal of earth and replacing it with poured concrete carried out in 1 metre sections commonly known as underpins.

This requires the excavation of earth 3 to 4 metres away from the cracked wall and installing concrete in the form of anchor blocks. Raking shores are then fixed to support the cracked wall.
Trench sheets are purpose made steel that come in lengths of 1-5 or 6 metres as necessary and can be braced with steel or timber props to keep earth banks apart. This method is used to support loose ground and act as earth work support for health and safety purposes.
